Lighthouse (GB Pixel Art Jam 2026)
A downloadable asset pack
Hello, this is my first submission to the GB Pixel Art Jam. I am an amateur pixel artist, and I didn't have much time, so I chose to recreate some art I drew a few years ago when I was trying to get into drawing.
It's an idea for a Mode 7 shmup game I had a few years ago that has been floating around in my head. It's gone through a few iterations in my head, at one point even having the player orbit around the lighthouse, and another involving a crow.
Even if I never make this game, I am glad it exists somewhere other people can see it now.
As you can see, my adherence to the theme of three is a bit vapid at best: three ships, three main subjects (alien, lighthouse, and ships), three shades of light. I would have liked to make it work better, but I'm happy that I made anything at all in the end. Also, I am certain my lighting makes no sense, but I did my best with my current skills.
For those interested, I used Asprite and I never came up on the unique tile limitation since most of it is empty space.
I discovered my Retro-Go handheld has different palettes for the Game Boy, so I thought it'd be fun to post a few. Please excuse the dusty screen.
